# Legal Entity Identifier

> Look up the registered legal entities that match a company name or Legal Entity Identifier.

Look up registered legal entities by a company's legal name or by its 20-character Legal Entity Identifier. Give exactly one of `name` and `lei`. Each entity has its identifier, legal name and other names, entity status, jurisdiction, legal form code, registration number, creation date, the identifier's registration status, registration, last update and next renewal dates, how well the record is corroborated, and its legal and headquarters addresses. It answers whether this is the legal entity you think it is, and whether its registration is current. A name is a text match, so similarly named entities come back too: tell them apart by the identifier on each row, and prefer the identifier when you have it, since it is an exact match. `total` is the number of entities that matched, which may be more than `limit`. No match is a completed result with `total` 0 and an empty list. Covers legal entities that hold an identifier; parent and child relationships are not included.

## Authentication

Requires x402 payment in the `payment-signature` header.
