# Truck Rates

> Look up weekly refrigerated produce truck rates and availability by shipping district and destination.

Returns reported weekly rates for refrigerated produce loads, not a quote, from the US Department of Agriculture. Origins are shipping districts. Each lane includes weekly low, high, midpoint and rate per mile, plus truck availability: 1 means surplus, 3 adequate supply and 5 shortage, with intermediate values 2 and 4.

## Authentication

Requires x402 payment in the `payment-signature` header.

## Request Body

**origin** `string` *required*

Shipping district substring, for example Salinas or Florida. 2 to 80 characters.

**destination** `string`

Destination city substring, for example Chicago. 2 to 80 characters.

**weeks** `integer`

Most recent weeks per lane. From 1 to 26. Defaults to `4`.

**data.request\_id** `string`

Durable job ID for audit and lookup

**data.status** `string`

Job status: `completed`

**data.tool** `string`

Always `market_truck_rates`

**data.result** `object`

The answer, described under Result below

**data.evidence** `object`

Where the answer came from and when

**data.evidence.source** `string`

The public body the data comes from. Always `US Department of Agriculture`.

**data.evidence.source\_kind** `string`

`public` when the data comes from a public body, `commercial` otherwise

**data.evidence.retrieved\_at** `string`

When the lookup was made, as an ISO 8601 UTC time

**data.evidence.as\_of** `string | null`

When the source says the fact was last updated, or `null` when the source gives no date

## Result

Nested under `data.result`.

**data.result.lanes** `object[]`

Lanes ordered by newest week, then origin and destination.

**data.result.lanes\[].origin** `string`

Shipping district.

**data.result.lanes\[].region** `string`

Source region.

**data.result.lanes\[].destination** `string`

Destination city.

**data.result.lanes\[].distance\_miles** `number | null`

Estimated lane distance in miles. `null` when the source gives no value.

**data.result.lanes\[].commodities** `string[]`

Commodity mix for the newest reported week.

**data.result.lanes\[].weeks** `object[]`

Newest reported weeks first.

**data.result.lanes\[].weeks\[].week\_of** `string`

Reported week ending date (YYYY-MM-DD).

**data.result.lanes\[].weeks\[].low\_usd** `number | null`

Lowest reported truck rate during the week. `null` when the source gives no value.

**data.result.lanes\[].weeks\[].high\_usd** `number | null`

Highest reported truck rate during the week. `null` when the source gives no value.

**data.result.lanes\[].weeks\[].midpoint\_usd** `number | null`

Source average of the weekly low and high. `null` when the source gives no value.

**data.result.lanes\[].weeks\[].rate\_per\_mile\_usd** `number | null`

Source midpoint divided by distance, rounded to four decimal places. `null` when the source gives no value.

**data.result.lanes\[].weeks\[].availability** `integer | null`

Truck supply: 1 surplus, 3 adequate, 5 shortage; intermediate values are 2 and 4. `null` when the source gives no value.

> [!NOTE]
>
> See [Pricing](https://docs.oneshotagent.com/pricing.md) for this tool's price. A wallet (x402) call receives it in the 402 quote before anything is charged; a call paid from prepaid credits is charged when the API accepts the request and answers `200`.

## Notes

* Origin and optional destination match uppercase substrings. Omit destination to return several lanes.
* Reads one page of weeks × 40 rows, capped at 1000, newest first; keeps up to weeks rows per lane from that page. History is available from the first call.
* Lane details use the newest row. Empty numeric fields are null. No match returns an empty lanes list.
* Results return inline. The finished job stays available at `/v1/requests/{request_id}`
