# Opportunity Zone

> Check the 2018 Qualified Opportunity Zone designation of a US tract or point.

Says whether a US census tract or point is in a Qualified Opportunity Zone designated by the US Department of the Treasury in 2018, as published by the US Department of Housing and Urban Development, with tract, state, county and rural flag. Tracts are from 2010. The 2027 designation round is not included.

## Authentication

Requires x402 payment in the `payment-signature` header.

## Request Body

**census\_tract** `string`

Eleven-digit 2010 census tract GEOID.

**latitude** `number`

Latitude in decimal degrees. From -90 to 90.

**longitude** `number`

Longitude in decimal degrees. From -180 to 180.

Top-level envelope: `success` (boolean) and `data` (object). All fields below are nested under `data`.

Durable job ID for audit and lookup

Job status: `completed`

The public body the data comes from. Always `US Department of the Treasury`.

`public` when the data comes from a public body, `commercial` otherwise

When the lookup was made, as an ISO 8601 UTC time

**data.evidence.as\_of** `string | null`

When the source says the fact was last updated, or `null` when the source gives no date

Census tract. `null` when the source gives no value.

County fips. `null` when the source gives no value.

Rural. `null` when the source gives no value.

## Notes

* Give exactly one 2010 census tract GEOID or coordinate pair. A point answers for its 2010 tract; 2020 census tract ids can differ.
* A point outside every designated zone, including outside the United States, returns designated: false. Place Resolve gives coordinates for an address.
* Rural means identified as a rural census tract according to the US Treasury. This is not tax advice.
* HUD and the dataset and metadata authors assume no responsibility for the use or misuse of the dataset.
* Results return inline. The finished job stays available at `/v1/requests/{request_id}`
