POST
Reports what the Open Targets Platform public database says about a drug or clinical candidate’s protein targets and mechanisms of action, with gene symbols and references. For research; not medical advice. Give exactly one of chembl_id or name. A PubChem CID is not accepted: pass the compound’s name, which Compound Resolve and Compound Properties return. A name search selects the first hit and lists up to three candidates so you can retry by ChEMBL id. An unknown compound returns matched: false. Does not return indications, adverse events, warnings, measured bioactivity or synthesis and preparation data.

Authentication

Requires x402 payment in the payment-signature header.

Request Body

string
ChEMBL molecule identifier; lowercase is accepted. CHEMBL followed by 1 to 9 digits, without a leading zero.
string
Drug or compound name; the first search hit is used. 2 to 100 characters.

Response (200 OK)

Top-level envelope: success (boolean) and data (object). All fields below are nested under data.
string
Durable job ID for audit and lookup
string
Job status: completed
string
Always compound_targets
object
The answer, described under Result below
object
Where the answer came from and when
string
The public body the data comes from. Always Open Targets Platform (EMBL-EBI and partners).
string
public when the data comes from a public body, commercial otherwise
string
When the lookup was made, as an ISO 8601 UTC time
string
When the source says the fact was last updated, or null when the source gives no date
